Concern about the effects of climate change on native trout populations across the Northern Rockies has prompted significant research investments in recent years. This webinar will report on the completion of high-resolution NorWeST stream temperature scenarios for all streams in the northwestern US and subsequent use of this information in the Climate Shield project to forecast locations of specific climate refuge streams for bull trout and cutthroat trout. The spatial precision of forecasts is empowering numerous resource agencies and conservation groups to protect key watersheds and is enabling new research applications with environmental DNA that will further refine the precision of information for decision making.
